It was a beautiful sunny day with enough wind for Manly Sailability to have a fun day. Our volunteers had the 5 boats rigged and launched in no time. Helen our ever reliable and efficient volunteer was taking registrations and Wilma with a smile as always prepared the morning tea and was ready to attend to the visiting participants. Warwick and Ken skippered Charlie’s Chariot and took Helen’s U.K. friend Carol out for a ride which she enjoyed so much she stayed onboard for the duration. Corey managed the radios in his usual efficient way. Wolf, Steve, Peter, Jim, John B, Micheal, John W, Brian, Denis, and Skye were a great team managing the pontoon along with sailing the Hansas.
Paul, James, Kylie, John and Eddie from Aruna were the first group to arrive. John was eager and the first participant out for a sail. The others soon followed for a fun sail. James’s duck decided the water looked too appealing and escaped the boat and was never seen again. Perhaps it joined the dolphins sighted in the harbour by Manly Sailing. Sydney Community Services group then joined us and with Sandra and Graham choosing to take a ride on Charlie’s Chariot and Brad, Stuart and John enjoyed a sail in the Hansas. During a lull in participant activities John W, Jim and Skye got up to mischief playing pirate war games on the harbour. Doug and Sabine from Sailability in Adelaide also visited. While Sabine took a ride on Charlie’s Chariot Doug went for a sail with Peter.
A great fun day was had by all.
