Once again we enjoyed perfect winter weather for our Monday sailing day, however the early light westerly wind gradually increased during the morning and gusts of 15 knots, led to some exciting and at times wet sailing.

We launched 6 boats in anticipation of the 24 clients booked for the day, and while waiting for clients to arrive Denis and John Penn went for a training sail, as did Michael and Skye, David Grinston, Warwick, Brian and Ivan also enjoyed a spirited sail in Clea.

John W was SDC and Mal, Jackie and Peter managed the docking of the boats, with Cory as usual marshalling the sailing operations. Initially David Webb and Caroline supported the sailors in Charlies Chariot however Warwick and Peter took over mid-morning. Helen and Nola did a great job in managing the client’s preparations for sailing.

The first to arrive and enjoy a brisk sail was Shane then Paul and Lynn took to the water. Ben Baines went out with Brian and newcomer Soane went with Jeremy for his first sail with us, and loved the experience.

Nine clients then arrived from Sydney Community Services but by then the wind had picked up and only a few went sailing, the rest preferring a ride on Charlies Chariot or just to sit in the sun.

Manly Sailability is very fortunate to have a strong group of volunteers and the many willing volunteers who turned up on the day ensured a trouble free and fun day for all.
