The phone message said, ‘Go down to sailing’

But it was wet where I was.

Oh well, it’s no use wailing

Nothing else to do today,

So I’ll go down to MYC because,

Sometimes it’s fun to do lots of bailing.

So, Barry, Mal, David, Eli

Allison, Brian, Ray and Helley

Steve, Tony, Ivan, and Jim,

Warwick, Col, John, yes that’s him,

Michael, Ken, Denis, that’s allslideshow

Who managed to get down there in the squall.

Five boats were put out in the rain,

What’s that? It’s eased! Sailing will be a gain

But we were not counting on the gale

Which sprung up out of nowhere giving rise to this wail.

Most of us had hopped in a boat, some with one, some to share,

And of course Charlie’s Chariot was out to take care,

As we crossed the waters of Manly Cove.

To keep the waves out we certainly strove.

It was all such fun, and a feeling of pleasure,

Of striving, and excitement that I’ll always treasure.

So, it was back any way possible to the pontoon,

Feeling a bit like in a monsoon,

To derig, wash and put boats in the shed,

With the canopies spread out to dry overhead.

A good day with lots of pleasantries and banter,

A feeling the day was quite an enchanter.

But no, we don’t want more like this,

Let’s go back to the days when the weather was bliss,

So that lots more people come down for a sail,

In perfect weather. There’s many a tale,

Of joy and perfection, and times of bliss,

That we would enjoy, rather than this.
