One of those perfect November days when the sun is shining, a pleasant 5 to 7 knot breeze keeping everything cool, lots of pleasant company, and wonderful participants. Our early birds were out in force, getting everything ready so that when our first group arrived, we could get them out there on the water with no waiting around.

David was the Boat Operations Manager, Barry the Guv, Eli on the pontoon, riggers: Joely, Brian, Caroline, Tom, John, Bob, Adrian, Mike and John. With such efficient workers, we managed to gat all the boats in the water, including John and Tom in Charlie’s Chariot before our Arranounbai children arrived, so that there was a pleasant little sailing interlude to get in the mood. Helen was Registrar, Sheila the time-keeper, Joely helped on the pontoon, Corey the observer, Philip, Samantha and Kandy helped up on deck, so that sailors Ivan, Adrian, Bob, John, David and Mike could be busy taking people out for a sail.

Alan came down for his practice for Sunday’s Pirates Day event at Dobroyd and soon hopped in Clea for an hour’s rehearsal.

Photo of Joe and John ready for a paddle out.Our little group from Arranounbai, Joe, Dylan, James and Wenbin loved every minute of their sail, with Joe intent on getting some rowing in as well. After their sail, they all had a go on Charlie’s Chariot, enjoying the feeling ofPhoto of Brian and James from Arranounbai the wind in their faces. Thanks, Miss Burdon and Mrs Tydeman for looking after them so well.

SEALS brought Paul, Jess, Elyce, who decided to supervise but not sail, Stephen, Conrad, Holly, Daniel, Thomas and Doug, with helpers Darina and Alice. Holly showed some concern, but was very brave and managed to sail around for quite a while before calling it a day.Photo of Wenbin sitting on his teacher’s lap.

Paul, Mikey, Stephen, David, Craig, Rebecca and James came with Kevin, Gabby, and Nicole. It was so lovely to see the smile on Rebecca’s face when she was comfortable in the boat.Photo of Kingsley and Paul

Finally, Matt, Judy, and Chris came with Joel from Forestville CAPS to make up the numbers. Matt got a special go in Charlie’s Chariot, relaxing on a bean-bag with helper Luke as close as possible.

Photo of Conrad after his sail.Almost at the end of the day, just in time to start putting away, an old friend, Byron, came down to volunteer. We are looking forward to seeing Byron again, as he holds great promise of being an excellent volunteer. It didn’t take long to put everything away, all shipshape till next time.
