A slow start this morning, with the weather almost impossible to predict. In spite of an overcast Sydney sky, we decided to go ahead, as there were people booked in who did not want to miss the social side of Sailability, as well as the possible exercise.

We set up just 4 303’s, as well as the 2 2.3’s to accommodate our solo sailors.

Barry was relishing his role as “The Guv”, with minions Eli, Helen, Steve, Ivan, Nicola, Jack, Ralph, Philip L, Joely, Bob, Lianne, Chris, Jacinta, Helene, Denis, John and Patrick there to carry out every command. Ralph started in Charlie’s Chariot with Philip L as observer, Nicola kept time, Eli sat behind the registration table, Steve and John minded the pontoon and Ivan, Denis, Helene, and John took people out sailing. Later, The Guv took over on Charlie’s Chariot, putting Chris and Jacinta through their training routines.Photo of Alan zooming along at the same speed as Charlie’s Chariot,

Alan arrived to take out Clea, and was in his element with his ‘video-sun-glasses’ attached. I can’t wait to see the results on the web. The perfect breezes out there kept him out for a long time, and it was quite a surprise when he turned back up at the pontoon 2 hours later, ready to call it a day.

Photo of Philip getting away from his MumPhilip OH appeared with his Mum in tow, and seeing that Alan Wood was ready, it wasn’t long before he also was out there in the sunshine and fresh breezes, churning up the water, and staying well ahead of his Mum and John, who had accompanied him out there to ‘teach’ him how to sail’. In fact, the opposite was true, he was giving them the lesson.

Also on the books this morning, Lars and Luca practising for the President’s Cup, Judy, Maureen, and May, Brad, Dirk, Robert, Stuart and Steve from BIRDS.Photo of Helene taking Robert for a sail

The Ninja’s from ICMS, who were our project group of volunteers this morning, made the most delicious lunch, which was enjoyed by all. Thanks so much, Sigourney, Joy, Monique D, Kjeth, Susana, Monique H, Taylor, Anwstoffer, Mim, Christina, a beautiful lunch, a perfect day, good friends, a job to do, what more can we ask?
