It was a red hot day in more ways than one this morning. Soaring temperatures and very little wind made conditions on the deck and pontoon at Sailability Manly extremely warm. With 25 helpers and 16 sailors, we had our work cut out for us to make things pleasant and cool for everyone.
Helpers today were Barry, Denis, Ray (Sailing Coordinator) Helen (Registrar) John, Rob, Brian, (Time keeper), Jay, Philip, John B., Jim, Ken, (Support Boat Trainee), Ivan, John G, Juliette, Ralph, (Support Boat Driver), Bob, Marc (Observer) Peter, Malcolm (Pontoon Manager), Col, Michael, Helene.
Obviously, it was going to be cooler on the water, so we kept most people out there for as long as possible.
Vanessa, Ben, Duncan, Ginny and Rodney were first to arrive from Sunnyfield, Fr Forest with helpers Ali, Tim and Regina.
Jeff, Peter and Hannah soon arrived from Sunshine, FR Forest with helper AMA, then Rob S, and Rob W, Mark, Jane, Alyssa, Nicky, Matt and Charley from Sunshine Pymble with helpers Liz, Mahtab and Karunen.
A breakthrough for all concerned today was the calm way Alyssa donned a life-jacket, and actually kept it on with a smile on her face while she took a brisk sail on Manly Cove.
The excessive heat proved too much for some of our helpers while we packed away, and some were observed going for a quick dip to cool off.
A couple of helpers stayed back afterwards to paint the table and stools, which were looking a little worn after several years of exposure to UV and wind. Thanks, Denis and Michael for your help with this.
