Despite the 7 a.m. weather forecast showing a “feels like” temperature of 2.7 degrees we had fourteen hardy volunteers arrive for sailing. With some quite strong winds gusting, the boats were rigged and readied for sailing. And 25 expected customers, all promising to arrive nice and early, should make for a pleasant day.
Warwick and Petra, in the Chariot, were kept busy with their passengers and towing duties. One of our sailors ( luckily by himself) took in so much water that the new sport of going swimming while still in the boat was founded. He was assisted and towed back to the dock. More towing was required when a rudder malfunctioned and some quick repairs were needed.
The promised early arrivals didn’t quite go to plan and an influx of unexpected extra participants kept everyone very busy.
Great teamwork by sailors, pontoon experts, boat deck volunteers and Corey, on the radio,
kept everything running smoothly and, in somewhat trying conditions, a good day’s sailing was enjoyed by all.
