We were greeted by a beautiful sunny winters morning with volunteers rigging 4 vessels, gear out by 9.00am & waiting for our participants to arrive.

However, first to arrive was Liz (friend of Jackie’s), came down to see if she liked what we do & achieve before becoming a volunteer. She was quickly into a vessel skippered by John P. & off sailing they went.

On return, Lisa was all smiles & advised she would join up as a volunteer member.

First participant to arrive was Adam Dickson & also was quickly into a boat skippered by Michael.

Next was Haizshao (Royal Rehab) in his wheelchair. He was from India & his first time ever to go sailing. Fitted with a sling he was winched into the boat, all smiles. He also came back to the pontoon still smiling after really enjoying his sailing experience & looking forward to his next time with Manly Sailability.

Next was a group of 5 from Sydney Community Services. 3 participants went sailing & 2 were taken on Charlies Chariot (skippered by John W. with Ken B. as observer & camera man). They also all had a great morning on Manly Cove.

With few participants this morning – longer sailing times were permitted. Volunteers Ken B. & Peter B. also had a good sail. Nola also had a good sail.

Thanks go to Corey N. (radio operator), Jackie M. (registrations), Caroline H. (life jackets, etc.), Stephen B. (pontoon) , Nola B. (pontoon).

Volunteer Mai P. also started sailing solo but found the breeze a little strong, so went sail training with Denis L.

Also, many thanks to Marc Skelton (volunteer) who always comes down to Manly Sailability when it’s time to pack all the gear away. Marc, your help is always appreciated!

All boats were de-rigged & all gear packed away by 112.15pm following a very enjoyable sailing morning.
