The beautiful weather this morning inspired lots of sailors to join us. It was not surprising that we had a fabulous team of volunteers to help us put out 7 boats, including the 2.3, and of course Charlie’s Chariot was on standby just in case any extra support was needed.

David Webb was our motivating Sailing Coordinator, Jannie the Pontoon Manager and David G the Boat Operations Manager. With this help, we got the boats out and on the water in double quick time, so that when our first participants arrived from New Horizons, as well as our participants from the community, Oliver, Craig, Megan, Jonathon, we were ready to sail. Ralph went across and picked up Charlie’s Chariot. He gave her a good clean to get rid of the seagull mess. John became the Support boat driver with Ken as observer and Juliette in training as co-driver. Sailors Peter, Ivan, Jack, Greg, Denis, David G and Vince took off sailing across the bay.

Lyn went across to Aldi for some morning tea for all, Alan arrived and was so busy socialising he missed the calmest period of wind, so we put his boat away. Jacob, Jon, Tony, Helene and Ralph were extremely busy up on deck, with all of the participants who were arriving; from Rap’n’Rave we had Ros, Ben, Michael, Dan, Chris, and Mark, with their helper, Mandy, then Grace arrived for her regular sail. Sachin brought Judy down, then Andrew brought his daughter, Kelly all the way from Victoria for a sail on Manly Cove. Denis also arrived for some socialising, and later on a good sail in the rising breeze. Mark, Brad, Robert, Andy, Steve, Carlo, Stuart, Dirk, May, and Daniel came down with their helper Gaynor. Vanessa and Lynette arrived for their sail and last of all, we took Laurie, from Marsfield for a final sail.

As you can see, it was a very busy morning, and our pontoon crew consisting of Rowell, Jannie, Tony, Michael, Jason, Helene were flat out making it all work efficiently, catching boats, hoisting people in and out of boats, and pushing people off.

A huge, huge thank you to Alice and Nastassja who were our chefs today. This was the most popular lunch we have had in ages.
