Although rain was in the forecast, Saturday stayed dry for us at Manly Sailability. The wind was very light from the northeast, but the calm conditions made for a relaxed outing on the water.
We had a busy morning with lots of participants, including a large group from Krisneil, a group from Sargood, and several individuals. These sailors represented a wide range of experience, from first-timers to seasoned Sydney-Hobart cruisers. Thanks to the efforts of our volunteers, we were able to get everyone sailing, and it was great to see so many people enjoying their time on the harbour.
Trips on Charlie’s Chariot were also popular, giving participants the chance to take in the scenery and get up more speed than today’s breeze allowed under sail.
Packing up took a little longer than usual and Jim had to put his engineering skills to work when Eli D’s rudder became jammed. But we got there in the end with all boats returned safely to storage, including Eli D.
A big thank you to all the volunteers who kept things moving smoothly both on shore and on the water. Thank you also to everyone who came along — we hope you enjoyed the day and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
