The morning weather looked good enough to eat, so, in spite of a gloomy forecast, we decided to go ahead with sailing. By the time our first participants arrived, it was already raining very softly, like a falling mist, but it was warm, the wind was perfect, and it all looked like a lot of fun for the helpers as well as these particular participants, the ladies from Ability Links, and the students from Verne Barnett.

Helpers this morning were Rob, Col, Helen, Denis, Ray, Caroline, Corey, John W, Brian, Evan, Philip, Ivan, John B, Steve, David, Tony, Mike and Jim. Rene, Sally, Anne and Tania went out for a quick sail, then into Charlie’s Chariot while our students; Alec, Anthony, Dash, Finley, Jackson, George, Michael, Matthew, Lode, Kai, Holly and Will each went out for a sail.

There were moments when the rain became heavier, but our main concern was the rapidly rising wind-speed, and the gusts on the harbour.

We called it a day a little earlier than usual because of this, and the children went upstairs to picnic on the veranda.

Thank you so much to Sailing Coordinator; Brian, Pontoon Manager; Col, Charlie’s Chariot Driver, John W a wonderful job as usual. Also thanks to the carers today; Sarah, Kirsty, Ann, Karen and Robyn.

The day started with a huge thank you to Doug, who, on turning 70, decided that his birthday present would be a donation to Sailability, a sizeable amount that will help us with some much needed maintenance.
